2019 Spring Cycling Kit Guide

Spring–it's the time of the year cyclists wait all winter for. It's a time of getting back on the bike, planning the upcoming season and of course, finding new gear. Sometimes this just means a tune-up and some new brake pads or bar tape, and sometimes this means adding a new member to the family (N+1 rule, forever). One thing's for sure, it's always nice to start the season with a new cycling kit or two. Kits have a shelf life, and while last season's bibs may do the job for now, it's better to refresh your wardrobe before fabrics get too threadbare or the elastic wears out.

Luckily, we've done the heavy lifting for you. Here, we've gathered seven new kits for 2019 from some of our favorite brands in a variety of styles and price points to help you look (and ride) your best.

LG art factory

Garneau Women's Art Factory Jersey and Shorts

Jersey $79.99, Shorts $109.99

Garneau has quietly become one of our favorite cycling brands. They've consistently created quality products with thoughtful designs, especially when it comes to their kits. This Art Factory kit checks all the right boxes—it's quick drying, is built with a variety of performance fabrics and features grippers on the bottom hem and the arms. It's not the most aero or race-friendly kit on this list, but it's a comfortable everyday option, and sometimes comfort matters most. Design-wise, this jersey-shorts combo stands out with its floral accents and maroon-ish colors. We wouldn't classify them as loud, but they stand out in a group ride (in a good way).

Specialized

Specialized Men's SL Air Jersey and Bib Shorts – Sagan Collection LTD

Jersey $140, Bibs $170

You can already buy his bike, his helmet and his shades, but now you can buy his signature jersey and bibs too. In another collaboration with Specialized, uber-famous cyclist Peter Sagan has created a line of high-performance jerseys and bibs with a distinctly Sagan style. They call the two options Overexposed and Underexposed, representing his flamboyant on-the-bike personality, as well as his more reserved side. While these won't make you ride like Sagan, they've really created a compelling kit with all the top-end features us mere mortals desire.

Pearl Izumi womens

Pearl Izumi Women's ELITE Pursuit Graphic Jersey and INTERVAL Bib Shorts

Jersey $125, Bibs $150

What can we say about Pearl Izumi that hasn't been said already. It consistently churns out reliable, well-designed kits on a yearly basis. This year is no exception, so we added not one but two kits to our guide. We love the different colorways on the new women's ELITE Pursuit jersey, and the Speed Sleeve construction and wind-tunnel tested Aero fabric add to the high-performance feel. The INTERVAL bibs shorts aren't just a men's style sized down for women either. The bibs include features designed specifically for women, like the drop-tail design and a buckle in the front.

Voler

Voler Men's Black Label Velocity Jersey and Bib Shorts

Jersey $119, Bibs $159

Ah, the Black Label. Voler's top-shelf line has been completely redesigned for 2019, and it shows. It's trim, race ready and super aero, and the Nova and Alito fabrics are soft and stretchy without sacrificing durability. We couldn't be bigger fans of the bibs. They feature a five-panel design built with high-compression fabric that helps support the upper leg and promote recovery. They're tight, but they're meant to be.

Pearl Izumi mens

Pearl Izumi Men's PRO Mesh Jersey and P.R.O. Bib Shorts

Jersey $135, Bibs $200

Pearl Izumi has added a new twist to its pro-level kit, now built with a super-breathable aerodynamic (PRO Transfer In-R-Cool®) mesh for hot conditions. Paired with the Speed Sleeve construction, compressive feel and low neckline, it's comfortable for both race day and long days in the heat. The P.R.O. bib shorts mirror the print of the jersey for a subdued, coordinated look when worn together. These bibs have everything you can ask for feature-wise and will make even your longest rides that much more enjoyable.

Bellwether

Bellwether Edge Jersey and Newton Bib Shorts

Jersey and bibs bundled, $209.98

Bellwether has long been known for its high-quality kits at a mid-tier price point. Despite being one of the less-expensive kits on this list, this Edge jersey and Newton bib short combo doesn't sacrifice on features or quality. It's race cut, is made with lightweight fabrics and comes in a variety of colors. We can't help but love the subdued navy blue color paired with clean stripes too. It's an instant classic.

Jersey $95, Bibs $130.

Twin Six has been on the forefront of cycling panache for a few years now. It only makes a few different models of jerseys and bibs, but offer several color variations that range from mild monochromatic themes to over-the-top, lightning bolt-covered kits (check out the Providence, you won't be disappointed). We know this specific colorway won't be a favorite for our entire audience, but we guarantee you'll find something on the site that matches your style and/or bike. If you want graphics to match the top, Twin Six offers a "Standard Race" version with the Metal design for an additional $15.
