"I'm a two-time breast cancer survivor, but lost my mother and grandmother to the disease. I've overcome these challenges with optimism and a sense of activism, asking myself how I can help others learn from my experience, and face their own health challenges from a position of strength.
I've been active in raising money for breast cancer research. I'm an eight-time participant in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, and have led my team, "Girls Gone Wild for a Cure," to a top-ranked position in fundraising. This past year, I raised over $5,000, and my team raised over $30,000.
As the Bay Area Director of Check Your Boobies, a non-profit organization, our mission is to have every woman know her breasts, it's important to educate women about breast health and early detection.
I tell others I meet starting their Breast Cancer journey, 'This is not a sisterhood, I would invite friend or foe to join. However, once you are here you will be surrounded and cared for by an amazing group of women who each has their own amazing story.'"

"My mom is a 20-year breast cancer survivor, and I'm a nine-year survivor. We were both blessed in that we only needed surgery for our cure, but know that there are so many more who need so much more. Two months after my surgery, I participated in the Relay for Life Walk; six years later, I joined the Avon Walk, and have been walking ever since.
I walk so my three sisters and four nieces will not have to face "survivorship." I walk to find a cure for breast cancer."
