Running is often billed as a low-cost sport accessible to anyone, anywhere on earth. Its minimalistic nature is a key selling point for many crunched-for-time (and cash!) adults who want a great workout that doesn't break the bank. After all, what more do you need than a good pair of shoes , shorts and a t-shirt, right?

Timex

Yes, I know you can't ditch your fancy GPS watch, but a trusty Timex is my go-to companion for race day. Skyscrapers, tall trees, remote locations and technological glitches can all cause your GPS watch to go haywire during your race--leaving you flying blind with no feedback on your pace or mileage.
