With its literal title, Active's Couch-to-5K program has successfully helped those with unhealthy habits get off the couch and across the finish line at their first 5K.
While the title was appropriate for Scott Radcliff's situation, he felt there was a more fitting slogan for his experience with the program.
"I referred to it as the Buffet-to-5K," he said.
A few years ago, Radcliffe was tipping the scales at 415 pounds. His job required months of travel, and the demanding career he chose led to poor eating and exercise habits.
In 2011, he finally decided it was time for a change, and discovered the Couch-to-5K program. Now, more than three years later, the Chesapeake, Virginia-native boasts a slim 6-foot, 189-pound frame.
For his admirable story and incredible body transformation, Radcliffe is the Couch-to-5K Member of the Month for December, 2014.

ACTIVE: How did you find out about the Couch-to-5K program? What inspired you to give it a try?
RADCLIFF: "I had finally made the decision to make a positive change in my life and joined a gym. I needed something that would work for my abilities at the time and these programs with the interval training and motivation, along with proper diet and regular exercise, helped me get on the right track. I stumbled across the Couch-to-5K on iTunes and thought I'd give it a try."
