How to Run the Boston Marathon

Miles 25-26.2

With a mile to go, you're in the homestretch. As you make the famous "right on Hereford, left on Boylston," you’ll hear screaming fans and enjoy a flat finish. Give it everything you've got!

The Finish

As you walk through the finisher's chute, you'll receive the usual medal, heat sheet, water and snacks. There are designated family meeting areas on side streets, but I've always found it easiest to meet loved ones at the corner of Boylston and Charles, right where the Public Garden ends and Boston Common begins.

The area is a bit less crowded, and if you walk up another block or two, you can usually get a cab or a celebratory drink at one of the bars. You've earned it!
