GPS units are usually complicated, especially with so many functions. The Timex IRONMAN One might be the easiest to use and set up that we've tested. While messaging on the watch isn't as easy as texting is on a phone, the option to save pre-typed S.O.S. messages is smart, especially when you've fallen victim to a heat-related injury and might not be thinking straight.
The three data pages that let you see up to four metrics at once was another plus. Calories, distance, time and pace can all be viewed on a single screen, which means you won't have to scroll back and forth to see all of your live results. When you do need to switch screens, let's say to change songs, the touchscreen that lets you swipe left or right as you would on a cell phone is much appreciated.
The watch might be a little big for those of you with small wrists, although this is pretty standard among GPS watches. The screen size is large enough to be seen clearly while you're on the move, and the overall weight wasn't much heavier than what you'd find with a normal running watch. The case is also waterproof up to 50 meters, which makes it just as good of a companion in the pool as it is on the trail.

Verdict
The AT&T service provided with the One GPS is free—at least for the first year. After that, a $40 fee will need to be paid in order to access all of the watch's functions. While the watch is expensive at $450 for the bundle (includes a Bluetooth heart rate strap), it's also the most robust GPS unit for endurance athletes that has hit the market to date. The live-tracking function along with the ability to download music, message, and have accurate GPS data in a wristwatch is a remarkable achievement—and one that seems to be pretty solid in its first generation of production.
If you're a tech savvy athlete who appreciates what a GPS unit can do for your training, you'll appreciate how the Timex IRONMAN One can help you cut down on the gadgets. You can even upload your data straight to Strava and MapMyRun without plugging it in. So until someone comes out with anything close to what this watch has to offer, it gets top marks from us.
